BackTweets – Twitter serves many purposes these days. It’s a way to network, follow influencers in your
industry and get your own ideas out there. It’s also a way to drive traffic to your Web site or blog. But the recurring question that seems to pop up with every social media campaign, How can we measure this?, is applicable here, too. There are plenty of analytics tools out there that give data on referring sites, but for a quick snapshot of how much traction your site has gained on Twitter, try BackTweets. By entering your URL (or any portion of it) in the search bar, you can see a list of tweets that link back to your site. This also includes URLs that have been shortened with services such as bit.ly and TinyURL that redirect to your site. This is an extremely valuable feature of the site, since the majority of tweeted URLs have been shortened, and a regular Twitter search would not yield these results.
