#FollowFriday (#ff) – Every Friday, tweeters include this Twitter meme in a post that suggests other Twitter accounts for people to follow. Tweeters recommend that their followers monitor these accounts because they provide valuable information or are interesting members of the Twitter universe. This weekly event is a great way for Twitters to earn credibility and followers by being endorsed by a third party Tweeter.
FollowFriday was started by Micah Baldwin in January 2009 so that he could suggest a person to follow and help other Tweeters find out about unique tweeters. According to Mashable, the first FollowFriday saw two #followfriday tweets per second, and now each Friday there is a drastic spike in the number tweets that include #followfriday.
